My Fiance and I recently purchased our first home together, but I'm having serious trouble when it comes to decorating it. I have the kitchen, dinning room, and guest bedrooms taken care of, but I am completely stumped when it comes to decorating my living room and master bedroom. Both the living and the master are neutral colored, earth tones, with a beige/off-white carpet, so I was hoping to stay in the more neutral color pallet with accent pillows for color? I don't like the really plushy look, and my Fiance and I both want a more modern/contemporary look/feel, but neither of us want the metal frames. I guess a sleek look? Young maybe? We don't want our friends coming over feeling like they've walked into Grandma's house. for our bedroom we really wanted a 'zen' theme. Simplistic, Asian-style, blacks with red accent maybe? We've an opening above the door leading from the master bedroom to the master bath that we'd like to play off of. (It looks like those arches at Japanese temples).
Any suggestions on how I can decorate these two rooms? Wall art, furniture, bedspreads, etc.
Shoji screens and doors, wood lantern wall sconces, very simple whites and sages.
